Karakara Gear Strider

Description

Karakara is named after caracaras, an aggressive bird with willing talons. The Talon Werks Team hit new levels with this design. Professor Emil Brockenhaggen, the lead engineer at Talon Werks, is credited with this Strider’s production. First and foremost, Professor Brockenhaggen started with the highly successful Cataphract and tuned it for speed over armour. Talons require striders which can strike quickly and fade back into the background.

A second team designed the Zeus Packs to supplement the Karakara for capital ship assaults and heavy ground assaults. While it’s not the stealthiest thing on the battlefield, it does have sensor-reducing alloys and some other tricks to use. The higher speed of this strider allows it to strike and then retreat, which is key for Talon surgical strikes. The Black Talons finally have a Strider Gear designed for their missions; the Karakara has stealth and VTOL options. It also includes tons of deadly weapon options.

The Karakara Model

Dream Pod 9 designed the Karakara miniature to make swapping the V-Engines to Zeus Pack VTOL packs easy. It has large pegs and 2mm diameter by 1mm deep holes for magnets (which are not included). The Zeus weapons are also easy to swap and pose with channels in the attachment area on the VTOL parts to slot in the weapons.

The model includes handheld HRG, HRC, HPA, MTG, and HVB parts, with holes to easy swap from weapon handles in the hands. There is also a LATM to attach onto the back torso behind the head, 2xMGM that can be mounted behind the shoulders, and 2xHHG that can be mounted on the arms. It also includes two Shields to be mounted on the outside of the lower arms on the pegs provided (please make sure to glue the left and right lower arms with their pegs on the outside). Dream Pod 9 have also included two different length knee piston parts to assemble the legs in different poses on the 40mm round base.

The Zeus Pack adds VTOL to the Karakara and the following weapon options: 2xHRG, 2xHPA, 2xHSC, 2xHRL, and 2xHRP. See the Heavy Gear Blitz stats image for all the options.

Dream Pod 9 3D-printed this miniature using  ABS-like resin. It is 61mm tall to the top of V-Engines when mounted on the round base. It comes packaged in a small black box, with foam padding and all the resin parts and round base in a small zip lock bag.
